Vacuum Cleaner Ratings, A Help For Consumers

If you have had to buy anything in the past few years, you may have turned to the internet for ratings.  In the 1970’s the only option for consumer ratings were the magazines such as Consumer Reports.  Now all that information is available on line.  You can find ratings for such things as hotel rooms, airlines, washing machines, automobiles and much more.  If you are in the market for a vacuum cleaner, look no further than your own home computer.  There you will find many vacuum ratings that will allow you to buy the best vacuum for your money.

When thinking vacuum cleaners, many people automatically think of going to the big box store and making the purchase there.  In doing this, you may miss opportunities to buy vacuums that are designed for a long live and effective cleaning.  Many of these higher quality machines are sold only in vacuum cleaner specialty stores or online.

While they may cost much more than what you would have paid in the big box store, you will end up with a machine that not only will last longer, but also is made to be serviced.  When, after years of service the vacuum cleaner breaks, it can be taken to a vacuum cleaner technician who will have parts in stock to make the needed repairs.  No more having to throw it away and buy another one.

Think about the savings in landfills if everyone would buy serviceable vacuum cleaners.  There are times that we may buy two or three cheap vacuums in one year’s time, only to see them thrown away as they break rapidly and are made to be disposable.

When choosing a serviceable vacuum, it is very important to consult consumer vacuum ratings.  You do not want to have to spend this amount of money for a vacuum that cannot perform.  You will want to read the vacuum reviews closely in order to be sure that you are buying what you really want.  Other options include asking friends or relatives about the vacuum cleaners they own.  Perhaps they own or have purchased one of these fine vacuums in the past.

Sometimes, they will be willing to let you give their vacuum a trial run in your home.  You may find that their machine is exactly what you need, or you may find that you are not happy with the results from this particular vacuum and save yourself hundreds of dollars.

When reading vacuum ratings, be sure to look further than just the star ratings.  You will want to see why the ratings are given.  Be sure that the negatives for the particular vacuum you are reviewing are negatives that would affect your use of the machine.  Also look at the positive vacuum reviews.  Are the points made a positive that would make a difference in your choice?  Who cares if the vacuum has a 150-foot power cord if you are living in a studio apartment?

By making proper use of the vacuum reviews, you can choose the best vacuum for your home.

Tankless Water Heaters

Just a few years ago, tankless water heaters were hardly heard of in many parts of the U.S. Today they have evolved into a home water heating option that more and more homeowners each day are considering for installation in their home. There is good reason why these tankless water heaters have become more popular as they are saving homeowners money and energy. So, if you find that it’s time to replace your water heater, then consider one of the newest energy saving water heaters- The Tankless water heater.

The Tankless water heater, also known as on demand water heaters are compact units that work on gas or eectricity to heat your water as needed which means that you’ll never run out of hot water! With a tankless water heater, you will never have to wait again for your water tank to fill up with enough hot water for you to shower and run the dishwasher at the same time.  In other words, when you want, you’ll have it!

Energy Savings
Unlike traditional tank heaters which constantly heat your hot water, tankless heaters save energy by heating only the water that you need.  We all know that energy savings = money savings and so there are some big money saving advantages to the tankless water heater. With a traditional water tank, you are paying to heat your water 24 hours, 7 days a week.  Can you imagine the savings with a tankless heater?  In fact, you don’t need to imagine because it is estimated that some tankless heaters can reduce your energy output and energy costs up to 50%.  You will definitely start seeing some lower bills!

Gas vs. Electric
There are several decisions to make when it comes to purchasing a tankless water heater starting with whether you choose a gas or electric heater.  Most plumbers will agree that an LP or natural gas fired heater is most cost efficient and the best choice in that they provide higher flow rates than the electric heaters. But, it’s also important to consider your intended usage of the heater in determining your choice.  This is because tankless heaters offer you three main choices of heaters to meet your needs.  The first, called the Single Point Application is used just for one fixture, such as a kitchen sink. The second is called a multi point application where more than one heater is used in one room such as in a bathroom for a bathroom sink and a bathroom shower. The third is called the whole house application where a single heater is used for the entire house.  With that in mind, the rule of thumb is to go with a gas heater for a whole house application and for the other applications electric or gas depending on your preference. Make sure that you also check with you plumber to ensure that you have the proper gas setup and or electrical capacity for the tankless heater that you choose.

All About Location
Where you live also plays an important role in determining if a tankless heater is right for you as well as what type of flow rate you will need in your heater.  This is because the colder the incoming water temperature is, the greater the rise in temperature will be to heat the water up to your desired temperature. Therefore, it’s important to consider this factor while choosing your tankless unit.
Therefore, if you live in Chicago, you may want to consider if a tankless water heater is best for you.

Cost
Tankless water heaters are not so cheap!  Tankless heaters can be pricey BUT well worth the investment.  In the long run, you will be saving money and it won’t take you long to see that your investment was well worth it.  So the next time you need to change your water heater and are able to spend the extra dollars, definitely consider the tankless option.  It’s good for you, good for your money and good for the environment
