How to Clean Mattress

For the décor of a house good selection of mattress is very significant. Mattress is a thing of comfort and it comes expensive. So it makes sense to learn how to take care of it. Unfortunately, spills or accidents occasionally happen, especially if you’re having breakfast in bed or your children aren’t yet potty trained. Here the question comes about the cleaning of this mattress. After all, it’s not like you can just toss it in the washer if it becomes soiled.
In the first place the best thing you can do is to avoid getting your mattress dirty. Encasing the mattress and the box spring in hypoallergenic cases protects them from dust and grime and will cut down on dust mites. However, liquid can still seep through most cases and into the mattress. You may want to consider placing a rubber sheet on the mattress for protection against spills or childhood accidents.
Of course, since most people find that these rubber sheets bunch up and are uncomfortable to sleep on, you may prefer to risk getting the mattress wet, especially if there isn’t a big chance that you will spill your morning coffee or your children are older. If you do get your mattress dirty, you can follow these simple steps to get it clean.
1. Whip out your vacuum, to remove dirt or dust. To keep dust mites under control most mattress manufacturers suggest that occasionally vacuuming your mattress is a good idea, even if it doesn’t look dirty.
2. Don’t grab your favorite stain removal product if you need to clean up a liquid spill or a stain. Mattresses are made of materials that may not react well to chemicals. Instead, you should just try to blot up any liquid and leave the stain alone. If you can’t bear the thought of leaving the stain on your mattress or if it has a strong odor, you can use a cloth dampened with cold water to gently scrub the stain. You can use a bit of mild soap on the cloth if the stain won’t budge.
3. After cleaning up the spill or stain, leave the sheets off your mattress and let it thoroughly air dry before you cover it back up. There’s nothing worse than a moldy mattress, especially if the person sleeping on it has severe mold allergies.
Once your mattress is clean and dry, you may want to use this opportunity to flip it over so that it wears more evenly. To help your mattress last longer you should flip your mattress over three or four times a year.

Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring cleaning isn’t far away, as the warmer months just around the corner. A spring cleaning can make your home winter clutter free and bring a change in scenery. Now is the perfect time to clean out the garage, basement and attic. As we all know, this work is very hectic and can take a lot of labor and time but a few simple tips can make your spring cleaning experience a breeze.
Consider using large plastic storage containers that feature snap-on lids, if you are storing away your winter clothes. You can find these in house ware departments at most stores and in a very inexpensive price. Storage containers are very important to keeping your clothes dust and discoloration free, which may otherwise be a problem if they are left hanging in the closet from one season to the next.
Instead of folding roll your clothes, when packing. This not only eliminates creases and wrinkles, but also saves a lot of space. You will be able to pack a lot more clothes with this technique.
Another good idea is to label your clothing containers as ‘spring,’ ‘fall’ and ‘winter.’ This will help you to easily locate your wardrobe inside the closet.
Consider a trip to the local flea market, if you are looking to clear out some knick knacks or perhaps even some holiday decorations in order to make room for new ones. Everyone is looking for a bargain and they just may be looking for something that you no longer wish to own.
It may be time to switch to a lightweight vacuum, with all of the changes that you’re making. This will save from lugging around a heavier model and will glide across the floor with ease. There’s no use in completely wearing yourself out during spring cleaning, so try to make it as easy as possible.
Consider donating the clothes which are outgrown or you don’t plan to wear to a local goodwill or other nonprofit organization. Rather than tossing them out, your clothes can provide revenue for a worthy cause and help the less-fortunate to be able to afford clothing that would otherwise be unattainable.
