Bathroom Vanities And Steam Showers Online

July 18th, 2009 John Maddox No comments

The vanity is the focal point of a bathroom, so selecting the right one is important in capturing the desired design aesthetic. Shopping for bathroom vanities online is the best way to save money and shop the widest range of options without driving all over the place. Keep reading for tips on selecting the perfect vanity for your bathroom.

Before purchasing the new vanity cabinet for your bathroom, it is best to know what kind of style you are going for. Whatever, your style, there is sure to be a bathroom vanity to fit it. The two most popular designs are antique vanities and modern vanities. Other styles include southwestern themed vanities, Tuscan vanities, basic vanities, minimalist vanities, retro vanities and virtually every other style you can think of.

It is best to have your bathroom vanity coordinate with the fixtures, for instance if you have a contemporary streamlined fixtures, a modern vanity would look best but if you have an antique claw foot tub and other antique accents, consider a complementing antique vanity. For persons that like to constantly change up their theme and dcor, a more basic vanity cabinet would probably work best. If you are replacing the vanity only, assess your existing bathroom fixtures and if you are completely remodeling or furnishing a new bathroom, get a cohesive design together before purchasing the vanity.

The next important thing to consider is the size of the bathroom vanity. This will depend upon the space available in the bathroom. Smaller bathrooms can often feel crowded by a full vanity cabinet, so I recommend taking a look at a pedestal sink vanity or one of modern floating vanity cabinets. These two designs add plenty of visual space to small bathroom and work to really open up the room. They are perfect in guest baths that do not require a lot of storage. However for bathrooms used by multiple persons, it will be more practical to opt for a larger vanity with more cabinet and drawer space in order to reduce clutter. Also, shared, non-master baths usually benefit from more counter space rather than double sinks. Now for the master bathroom, most people prefer double sinks. Double sink vanities are available in many designs and can also be found in wall mounted models to open up the floor space a bit.

Make sure that the master bath vanity has plenty of storage, but also that it does not overtake the bathroom. In any bathroom, take careful measurements and make sure there is ample walk room and that the fixtures aren’t crowded. One good tip for remodels is to use tape to mark out the size of the vanity on the bathroom floor so that you can get a better idea of how it will fit in to your space.

The final step in buying a bathroom vanity is selecting the design aspects. The finish should coordinate with you color scheme and the hardware should match the design. If you are going with an antique theme, popular colors are antiqued white or oak and hardware is often detailed and ornate. For modern vanities, espresso, beech, glass, and stainless steel are great finishes and hardware should be streamlined and simple.

The countertop should match the bathroom as well. For a master bath, opt for quality, long-wearing materials like granite or stone. For guest baths, glass or veneers will work just fine.

Looking for a babysitter? Now, it isn’t so hard. Babysitting agencies are a great help. Getting a sitter from an agency will give you some assurance that procedures have been followed to ensure that you have a qualified sitter. Different agencies however have different methods and procedures. You would want to be with an agency that can source the best sitters. How do you know that you are with a good agency?

Source of Sitters

Background – Finding out about an agency’s background is a given. Your next step should be finding our exactly where they get their sitters. It would be good if an agency can get sitters from various sources. After all, this is not a question of discriminating against certain places as sources for sitters. It’s about finding out how they screen their applicants.

Your agency should have a service that conduct preliminary checks, investigation and screening. This includes verifying a sitter’s real identity and checking for past records of cases of misdemeanor. Determine how an agency conducts its checks.

Agency Requirements for Sitters

Ask about the agency’s requirements for accepting sitters. What exactly are these requirements? Are sitters required to have certificates in first aid courses? In some cases, sitter applicants aren’t required to have these certificates. This is because not every sitter would have the motivation or resources to take these courses. Some agencies however take it upon themselves to provide learning opportunities. A sitter who is well-versed in emergency response is valuable. You would want a sitter who can respond to emergencies and accidents.

Sitter Matching

Look for an agency who is careful to address your special needs. Your sitter for example should be able to work well with kids who have the same ages as yours. You may also have special requirements such as sitters being able to cook as well. Find out how an agency will help you find the exact sitter that you need. Some agencies will help you interview their sitters so you can find a good match. Others will interview you personally so they can determine your needs and find a sitter who fits.

Agency Guarantees

Agencies should have some form of guarantee. Products typically have money back guarantees. Agencies on the other hand have guarantees for replacements. This is important because there will be instances when your sitter will be unable to come in. It is also quite possible that you may not be satisfied with your sitter and would like a replacement. Will your agency replace a sitter at no extra cost?

Cost

As with everything else, the price is a crucial factor. How much do you have to pay your agency for a sitter? You may have to pay an initial fee whether or not you finally decide to get a sitter from them. Some agencies have non-refundable initial fees. You then have to pay for a placement fee. This amount covers the costs for agency services include background checks. In some cases you may have to pay extra for transportation costs. Once you have your sitter, you have to pay her an agreed sum every month.

Babysitting agencies may be a bit expensive. If you think about it though, the cost may be worth every penny. Just think about it as paying a large amount for the safety of your kids.
