How Having Outdoor Security Cameras Protect Your Home

August 22nd, 2009 Mike Ward No comments

You have worked hard for what you have and you really need to protect it. You would also want to protect your family and keep them safe. These are two very good reasons to install outdoor security cameras on your home and restore your peace-of-mind.

Any visible security system has been proven to be a deterrent to would-be thieves. Burglars want an easy life, and if they see some sort of security system, they will go elsewhere and look for easier pickings. The advantage of security cameras over other home security measures is that intruders can be caught on camera and this makes it easier for police to catch the thieves.

Security cameras at the external doors of your house make it easy for you and your family to see who has come to the door. With cameras that are fixed on the doorway, they need only open the door to people they know, and reduce the risk of letting a criminal into the home.

Another great use for outdoor security cameras is allowing you to monitor the backyard. When the children are outside playing, you are able to be indoors continuing with your work, but are able to supervise the children at the same time.

When you go to acquire outdoor security cameras for your home, you will quickly realize that there are some decisions to be made. An outdoor camera can be a dummy camera, for deterring burglars; it can photograph the person at the door, record the image or just allow you to identify them. You can have black and white images, which are cheaper, or color, which give more detail.

You will need to choose between different systems – there are wired as well as wireless. Again, wireless tend to be cheaper and often come in a DIY kit, but a wired system is the more stable and efficient option. Wireless cameras have the advantage of being able to be placed in areas where running video cables may be difficult or undesired.

The security cameras will need to be recorded to get the most benefit. Security digital video recorders are best for this purpose. They come in the form of standalone DVRs similar to a VCR but record onto a hard drive. They can also be in the form of a personal computer with specialized hardware and video capture cards installed. The number of video inputs will determine how many cameras can be recorder, the most common are units with 4, 8 or 16 channel inputs. Among their many features is the ability to record only when there is motion.

The motion detection feature of the DVR allows you to record only when someone or something moves into the cameras view. You no longer need to buy special cameras since the DVR and not the camera determines if it should record. This will also reduce the amount of video that may need to be reviewed if a crime were to occur.

Making sure your home and family are safe and secure is the utmost importance, and you can rest more easily knowing that your outdoor security cameras are doing the job for you.

Need A Way To Entertain Your Kids – Get Them Making Ice Cream In A Bag

August 22nd, 2009 Mia Kane No comments

This is a really cool thing to do, and my children love it. Actually so do my friends, it’s great fun at a dinner party, or barbecue too. But I know no better way on a rainy day, when baby sitting some children to get them entertained, involved and quite! This method makes just one serving.

What you need for this.

Milk about half a cup, cream is ok too, but I prefer to use milk, keeps it healthier.

1 tablespoon of sugar.

Chocolate syrup or cocoa power or vanilla extract. About a 1/4 teaspoon.

Ice. Fill up your ice trays the day before, or if you forget, just nip out and buy some, it’s cheap.

You will need either rock salt or table salt for this method. Either is fine, though I think rock salt may be cheaper to use.

2 plastic bags. I quart sized and 1 gallon sized. Remember you can improvise with this. It’s just a rough guide.

Some great dancing music.

So now let the games begin.

Take the sugar, flavoring that you have chosen and milk, and mix them all in a suitable bowl well. Then put them into the smallest bag. Seal up that bag well and good so that the mix will not under any circumstances escape.

Take your bigger bag, and place the ice and salt into it. It should now be about half full with ice and salt combo.

Now take the small bag and put it into the big bag. The most important thing here is to make sure that both bags are are sealed really well as you don’t want them mixing together. You can use tape if needed, that’s fine.

Now put on some great music and shake those bags, shake them and agitate them and massage them, (be careful not to split them). You can do this for between 10 – 15 minutes. In this time your mixture will have turned into solid ice cream. Magic! Now eat and enjoy!
