Bathroom Upgrade Tips And Ideas

September 19th, 2009 Jess Gorter No comments

Anyone who is interested in updating their home is going to have to tackle the bathrooms sooner or later. The bathrooms get some of the heaviest use of all the rooms in a house and everyone uses them so it is important to design them carefully. Being embarrassed by your bathrooms is the last thing any homeowner wants.

Bathrooms can be as flashy or subdued as you like but you must remember to make them look like they blend in with the theme you have going in the other rooms. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make them look nice, but in today’s world you certainly can spend a fortune if you want to. Whether you spend a lot of money or a little, it is important to make them look neat, organized, and clean.

One of the first things anyone sees when they walk in a bathroom is the walls and the color and design on the walls. If the color is off, there is little you can do to save the bathroom. As an example, a bathroom painted a bright yellow will look odd if that color is nowhere else in the house. In the guest bathroom especially, you need to match colors with the other colors in the rooms on the main floor. If you are looking for daring and exciting colors, it is advised to use them in one of the upstairs bathrooms.

Tile is a popular choice for bathroom floors and walls and this is because it is durable and can be made waterproof. For a room that gets as much use as a bathroom, picking tile is a smart choice that many people make. There are however, many different types of tile to choose from and each of them had different pluses and minuses.

When deciding what type of tile is right for your bathroom, you must first decide how much you want to spend and what type of surface texture you want for your tile. You also need to pick a color that will look good and decide whether you want just the floors to be made of tile or the walls to be tile as well. You need to plan carefully so that you are sure your decisions will result in a bathroom that you are pleased with throughout the years.

Should You Carry Stun Guns and Pepper Spray?

September 19th, 2009 Mike Ward 1 comment

Many people erroneously believe that stun guns are dangerous. However if you should find yourself in a situation that calls for self-defense they are nice to have around. Stun guns work by passing a high voltage pulse through a person’s nervous system and muscles. The voltage is high enough to pass through clothing and skin and disrupt the normal nervous system functions but not intense enough to do serious damage.

The muscles of the body respond in one of two ways depending on the stun guns used. An attacker may be completely unable to move or the muscles may be functioning too rapidly to complete a specific movement. Either of these will give you much need opportunity to escape and find help.

On the other hand, pepper spray can also be very effective. If you are in a situation that requires quick movement it can be a little more difficult to use. To be effective you need to be able to aim the spray for the attackers face and get at least close to the eyes.

Properly aimed and executed pepper spray in the face will stop most attackers in their tracks; they may even fall to the ground. The pepper extract causes severe burning of the eyes and if any amount of the spray is breathed in, the lungs will be on fire as well. Inability to see clearly and difficulty breathing should buy you enough time to escape and find help.

If you decide to go with stun guns, you should know there are several to choose from. Each one has different applications and voltage, for example the Muscle Man Stun gun carries 100,000 – 600,000 volts, the Panther Stun Gun carries 100,000- 500,000 volts and the perfect purse or pocket size gun is the Streetwise Small Fry that packs a walloping 400,000- 1,000,000 volts!

Looking for something a bit more unique? Get a Blast Knuckles Stun Gun, this little baby is held in your grip, pulling a fist, and is great for stunning someone with 950,000 volts. If you want to really give someone a kick in the pants opt for the Double Trouble Stun Gun that has a massive 1.2 million volts.

You have several options when it comes to pepper spray as well. You can purchase pepper spray in devices ranging from handy pocket pepper spray devices to full force police magnum style and everything you can imagine in between! Jogger Pepper spray, Home unit pepper spray and even hard key ring pepper sprays are all available at many retailers. No matter who you are, there is a pepper spray for almost every situation.

Personal protection is a very serious issue in the times we live in; you should have some form of self-defense device with you at all times. It does not matter if you prefer stun guns or pepper spray, in fact in many areas you are allowed to carry both. The important thing is to not be caught unarmed, so to speak. Show a would be attacker that you are a force to be reckoned with! You have every right to protect yourself and whether you are at home, in public or at work you should be sure you are safe.
