The Variety of Mini Refrigerators
There are many models to choose from when shopping for a small refrigerator. Also known as a compact refrigerator or a mini refrigerator, these pint sized appliances are range from single can holders to anything smaller than’ cubic feet. At which point it is considered a standard sized refrigerator. The most common models that come to mind are between 2.8 to 4.4 cubic feet.
Despite the wildly small refrigerators, the most common of refrigerators on the small end of the scale usually offer around 2.8 cubic feet of storage space. These are sometimes referred to as compact cube refrigerators because they almost take the form of a perfectly shaped cube. These are probably the smallest while still being useful and often make good beverage refrigerators. These refrigerators are also good for small snacks and the freezer compartment is typically half-width which is hardly useable.
Anything larger than a compact cube refrigerator but less than approximately 10 cubic feet can be considered a mid-sized refrigerator. This is especially true of the larger appliances that almost look like a standard sized refrigerator. The freezer compartments in these refrigerators are usually full-width and are more useful at storing a couple frozen dinners and small amounts of groceries.
Then there are apartment sized refrigerators which more closely resembles their full-sized counterparts. The additional storage space is great for people who reside in shared apartments or small studio apartments and do not have the need or capacity to own a full sized refrigerator. These refrigerators, depending on the design, will range from 5 to’ cubic feet.
Larger refrigerators have the capacity to offer more options. While refrigerators smaller than’ cubic feet make it difficult to incorporate water and ice dispensers there are some that are large enough to warrant a separate freezer compartment. There are also some refrigerators on the larger end of the scale that offer ice making and storing capabilities.
Small refrigerators are great for anything from office spaces to college dorm rooms to a large single family home. When the need for refrigeration is small they serve the purpose and there is one size for every occasion.
