Because of the vast amount of advertising hype, numerous people find things like solar energy and other sorts of renewable energy somewhat of a gimmick. Regrettably, this does tend to be the prevailing case for numerous persons. Though, nothing could be further from the truth. There are valid options out there and viable alternatives to help save the ecosystem.

Certainly, to a degree, it does depend on where you live. There is not a great deal of pointing getting a solar energy plant at your home if you do not get an adequate amount of sunlight. Nevertheless, places which do not get an adequate enough quantity of sunlight are few and far between, so you want to do your research before removing it out.

With regard to how much money you will save with a domestic solar energy plant, it is of course entirely dependent on how much electricity it would generate. As a rule, a couple of solar panels of a high quality build should be able to turn out enough electricity to perform basic tasks on an everyday basis in your house.

You could moreover procure ones which are already designed and built and only require to be installed into your home. This of course is a much more high-priced choice, nevertheless if you have the money to spend, and you don’t want to mess around constructing your own, then this can be a terrific opportunity for you.

A solar panel kit does cost quite a lot of money however. In the event that money is one of your main concerns, then you could want to think about it do it yourself kit. Building your own solar panels is nothing like as complicated as it may seem. You can discover lots of tutorials on the Internet including videos which will walk you through the process.

If you are apprehensive about the startup costs, then you may want to ponder the DIY options. If you are practical and enjoy doing things yourself, then you may procure kits which will permit you to do this. This offers you more customised option and moreover saves quite a lot of money.

If you want to do it yourself, you can unearth stacks of reviews on the Internet and all kinds of resources which can walk you through the process including videos and various other tutorials. This way you get the best of both worlds for not having spend an enormous quantity of money to get it off the ground.

Envirotech Summit has even more information on solar power for lower electric bills which might be helpful to you.

In the future, all of our energy will come from renewable sources. With traditional gas and energy costs skyrocketing, it is apparent that we need to find new ways to make energy production which are sustainable. We need to change our thought process about how we use the Earth and begin to convert our old energy grid into something sustainable.

Many people have already begun to think this way. Problems that we have previously had with renewable energy have been solved and new engineering breakthroughs have allowed us to take the next steps toward a completely sustainable future.

Using the right set of plans even homeowners who don’t know anything about construction or electricity can build their own alternative energy sources right in their backyards, such as wind power generators.[youtube:UQWf_-OEHOw;[link:DIY wind power generators];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQWf_-OEHOw&feature=related]

Wind turbines can be made to reduce the average home’s electricity bill by as much as 70%. They can be built, using economical plans, for as little as $200 using pre-used parts. The most expensive part might be a DC motor which can cost as little as $30.

They can be built with basic tools and parts from a local hardware store. You can estimate the amount of power a generator creates using the following formula:

Power(Watts) = (Wind Speed)^3 * (Blade Diameter)^2 * 0.00478

The speed of the wind is cubed, so it makes the most difference in your power output. For example, if you have a good average wind speed of 10mph and an 8 foot blade diameter, then:

W = (10*10*10) * (8*8) * 0.00478 = 305 watts/hour – x 24 hours and you can calculate 7.3 kWh generated per day by a wind power generator.

An average home uses about 12-20 kWh/day. Of course if you conserve your power you can reduce that to much less – even down to 5 kWh per day. So if you don’t have a great average wind speed in your area, a wind power generator can significantly reduce your power bill, and it may only cost you $200.

With rising fuel and energy costs, many people are looking for their own alternative energy sources. Wind power generators have been use on farms for many years in varying degrees, before electric power became so readily available.

Building your own wind generator into your home is easy. The rule of thumb is to find a place that is about 200-300ft from another obstacle or at least 20 ft higher. In North America the average wind speed is around 9m/s, which can give you a lot of power.

Wind power is a great source of renewable energy. It is much cheaper than solar power per Watt, as a wind turbine can generate 1000W while a single solar panel generates around 100 in daylight.

To turn the rotational energy of the turbine into electricity, the actual power generator is the DC motor. You will have to pick one up or order one – they can cost $50 on up depending on size.

You will also need to buy a tower, or improvise one. Recycling towers is a good idea – people that have old TV towers they don’t use any more may actually pay you to take them away. You will also need some great engineering blueprints to get you started on your project.

Many people have bought guides and made their own 500 watt turbines from scratch using PVC piping, a DC motor, TV tower recycled and a grid connector unit. This can be done in less than a week and for less than $300. On the other hand the same turbine might cost $1500 or $2500 commercially.

The basics of wind power generators have been around ever since the old windmills you still see at farms across the plains and prairies. Now you can find plans on the Internet for building your own system, or buy components or kits that contain what you need to know.

If you have a bit of land or a rooftop to place it on, some PVC, a DC motor and something to make a tower out of, you can put together a wind power generator with basic tools quite easily.

If you are looking to reduce your power bill or get off the grid completely, residential wind power is currently the simplest and cheapest way to do it.

by David Sullivan

If you are looking to reduce your power bill or get off the grid completely, residential wind power is currently the simplest and cheapest way to do it.

A problem with wind power right now is that it is fairly expensive (though not as expensive as solar). If you were to go out and buy a wind turbine, you’ll find that they might cost you $2000 to $6000 dollars.

If you have the right plans you can build your own, in fact. And it’s not complicated, and it’s not expensive. you can do it for around $150-$300 depending on the amount of power you want to produce.

What will you need?

You’ll need a work area, good blueprints, basic tools and four to seven days.[youtube:c62xOPaS0YA;[link:Windmill power generators];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c62xOPaS0YA&feature=related]

The components you’ll build:

Four main parts in a generator are the blades and hub, the body with a DC motor, the tail and the tower. The blades will be the toughest part to build of the whole machine. They are still fairly easy with a good guide to move you along.

The motor converts the rotation of the blades to electricity. It is the most expensive part. Your manual will tell you how to install it best and what size you’ll need and all the other technical details about this part.

For the body it is best to use double walled stainless steel like that from a chimney pipe or wood stove. It is very cheap and easy to get and will last a long time.

The tail is very simple but usually essential to make sure your turbine is pointed in the right direction. Make it sturdy so it can withstand storm winds.

You can buy the tower or build your own out of piping. The best thing to use is old TV towers, which many people don’t use anymore and may actually pay you to take them down.

These are some of the basics of building a wind turbine (and believe me, it doesn’t get much more complicated). All you need now is a manual to get you started saving money and the environment.

Anywhere that there are relatively strong winds is a good candidate for a wind energy system to partially or even totally replace the power from your local utility. A residential wind turbine can help you to meet the energy needs of your home or business, significantly reducing costs. These turbines may be and often are used along with a solar power system, since many of the parts needed for one are also used for the other. A wind turbine is installed on a tower and transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy which may be used to provide power in the home.

Most homes which use residential wind power also draw electricity from their local utility company as well. If wind speeds are below the turbine’s cut in speed (typically 7-10 mph), then the turbine will produce no power and all of the home’s energy needs will be met by the utility company. However, when wind speeds are above the turbine’s cut in speed, then the turbine generates power, lessening the amount drawn from the power grid. Any electricity produced which is above and beyond that needed for the home may be sold back to the local electricity supplier.

In general, a wind turbine can lower a homeowner’s electric bills by around 50% and up, depending on the exact wind power system and number of turbines used. How much a smaller wind turbine will save exactly all depends on the power usage of the home and the average wind speeds in the area, among other factors.[youtube:UQWf_-OEHOw;[link:DIY Wind Power Generator];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQWf_-OEHOw&feature=related]

The efficiency of a wind power system depends entirely on the average wind speeds in your region. If you live somewhere where the wind speeds average above 10 mph, then your home is an excellent candidate for a residential wind power system ad you should be able to save a significant amount on your energy bill.

You can easily find out your area’s average wind speeds to determine if a wind power system is like to work well for your home. If your area is a breezy one, you may find that you can generate much of your own electrical power by installing a residential wind turbine.

Residential wind systems are quiet and don’t interfere with television or other electronic signals and can be installed with relative ease. Your local utility may even install an additional meter in your home to measure the excess electricity your wind power system is feeding back into the power grid.

Complete, ready to install wind turbine systems are readily available, though homeowners can also choose to buy the necessary parts and install it themselves. Purchasing a ready to install system costs a bit more but comes with more comprehensive support if needed. Installing a wind turbine on one’s own requires a little more technical know-how, but also a significant savings over a ready to install system. People interested in a residential wind power system should look into the pros and cons of each option for themselves to choose which is best for their needs.

A home wind power generator can save homeowners a considerable amount of money as well as being environmentally sound. A wind turbine creates no pollutants and reduce your reliance on greenhouse gas emitting fossil fuels; it’s good for the Earth and great for your pocketbook.

Want to find out how to build a wind turbine for your backyard and save your hard earned money on your hydro bill. Find out how to build a homemade wind generator and you can save 1000s on of purchasing one and still make lots of power.

by John Ashbury

There are many different things that influence the output of a wind turbine that you must consider if you are going to put up this form of alternative energy on your property. There are also differences with solar systems which may make wind a better choice.

The average wind speed is a factor that is a big influence on how much electricity that can be produced from a wind turbine. The more wind speed that you have then the higher the production of electricity will be. This means two things.

You will need to take into account the amount of wind that you receive where you live. If you receive lots of wind and often that wind is strong, you will know that using a wind powered system, or wind turbine, would be the smart choice for your energy needs. However, if you live in an area that does not experience much wind then you will not be able to generate much energy from the wind turbine.

The diameter of the rotor has a lot to do with the output of the electricity that you get from a wind turbine also. The bigger the diameter is of the rotor then the more output you have of electricity also. You need to consider a good sized rotor. Cost may be a factor but you are defeating the purpose if you go for the cheaper solution of a smaller rotor. In order to get the most energy you need to get a bigger rotor.

The height of the tower is another factor that makes a big difference of how much output of electricity you receive from your wind turbine. This is because a wind turbine collects strong gusts of wind to convert into energy. Slow movements of air up to 10 mph don’t mean anything. The stronger winds are higher in the air and not so close to the ground. To get the most electricity you need to have a tall tower to capture the higher wind speeds. This will allow for more wind to be caught in the turbine.

A solar system is common for alternative sources of energy but this type of solution is often dependent on the sun shining. Cloudy days, rain, snow, and even debris can cause this not to work. In addition, most solar panel solutions rely on electricity to run the panels.

A wind turbine does not require anything but the wind in the air. There isn’t anything stopping the wind unless you live in a pocket or right up against a mountain and are blocked.

Many factors influence the amount of electricity that wind turbines generate and store within the system. Most of the time the system actually relies on these factors in order to put out the most energy possible. If you can meet these factors, IE, the height and size, then you can expect to have a system that will supply your energy needs in a very cost effective, environment friendly way.

Although anyone can decide to install a wind powered system in there home there are some things that should be considered beforehand. Most people have questions about the system and this article will attempt to answer some of those questions.

First of all you should know that there are regulations set out by the government that compel electricity companies to connect to wind turbine systems and so, if you are wanting to install one in your home, you should have a talk with your electricity supplier. They must work with you and not against you and connect the system to your home. When it comes to getting the proper approvals from the utility company, the electricity company should be able to sort that all out for you. They will also be able to ensure that the system is installed correctly and is up to code.

Many prospective prospective owners are concerned about the wiring in their homes and fear that in order to install the system they will need to interfere with their existing wiring. But this is not the case. Wind turbine systems do not affect the wiring in your home in the least and are simply fitted to your home.

Not only is the wiring unaffected but your appliances are also unaffected and do not need to be changed in any way. The electricity company that you use will install and additional meter beside the one you already have and this will measure the total amount of energy that the company will then be purchasing from you wind turbine.

In order to install a wind turbine in your home you will need a tower. This will need to be between eighty and one-hundred-and-twenty feet high and is, in most instances, supplied along with the wind turbine when you purchase the system. The reason you need a tall wind turbine is because the stronger wind that the system needs to generate the energy is not usually close to the ground but higher up.

There are many different types of towers that you can use when you install a wind alternative energy source at your home. There are different types of towers and they all have different advantages. The guyed lattice tower is known as the best tower to use because it is so economical. The hinged tower is favored by many people because of the ease of installation and it also provides easier access for maintenance purposes.

To recap, wind powered systems will not require you to alter the wiring in your home at all. They are simply fitted to your house without affecting any of the wiring whatsoever.

Also, remember that you will need to have a tower installed as well and this is usually provided along with the system. For your energy needs and for the turbine to be most effective the tower will have to be fairly tall so that the system is not close to the ground. Anyone can install a wind turbine provided that you work with your electricity supplier to do it the right way.

Wind powered systems generate electricity by using the power of the wind. But the amount of electricity that they are able to generate depends largely upon a number of different factors which include the wind itself, as well as the type of generator that is used and what that power will be used for. Besides these factors there are others that will influence the amount of electricity that is generated.

If you are conscious of the environment and want to do your bit to protect it for future generations then wind powered systems are definitely the way to go. Although energy can be generated from other materials such as coal, petroleum, and propane, these are all harmful to the environment. Solar power and wind energy are two ways to protect the environment, save costs and supply your energy needs. This is why so many countries all around the world are starting to use use these means of lowering their energy costs.

Of course, since we are discussing wind powered systems it stands to reason that main requirement you will need is sufficient wind. Unfortunately the wind does not blow every single day out of a year and in some areas they do not experience much wind. But you need it for wind turbines. If you live in area where the wind blows often then you will know that your system will be able to create and store enough energy for your needs. Because the wind does not blow constantly you will not be able to rely on the system to provide your energy needs all the time. However, it certainly is an excellent supplement. For the average home the system should supply your needs or else certainly supplement your current energy supply.

Another factor that wind energy relies upon is the generator that is used for the system. Generators actually vary in size and the amount of energy that they have the ability to store. The larger the generator is the more energy that can be stored for use. Smaller generators don’t provide a lot of energy.

For example, a kinetic powered watch that relies on the wind has a tiny generator that only stores a small amount of energy. A watch is a small device to power so it doesn’t use to much. However, the movement of your wrist may not provide too much stored energy if you don’t move around too much. If you don’t wear the watch for a day or a few days then the watch may run out of energy.

Depending on what the energy that has been stored is used for will be a major contributing factor to the efficacy of the system. Invariably people with these wind turbines installed in their homes get to enjoy a saving of around twenty percent on the electricity bill. The average household does not use that much energy and so their the needs mean that the wind turbine will significantly reduce their dependence on the traditional electricity supply.

The amount of electricity that is generated through a wind powered system varies on many different factors. The different factors include the wind, the size of the generator, and how the energy is being used.

Wind powered systems will provide you with around twenty percent of the electricity that you normally use. It is a highly cost effective way of generating electricity and supplying your energy needs. And there is the added advantage of knowing that you are doing your bit for the good of the planet.

If you are hoping to save money by installing a wind powered system then you will be pleased to know that you will save money. However, the amount that you save will be dependent upon a number of factors such as the the size of the system that you choose, the amount of wind that you have in your area, the amount of energy that you use and what you use it for, as well as some other factors.

If you are wanting to lower your monthly energy bill, as most of us do, then wind powered systems are definitely a smart choice. Wind turbines rely solely on the wind and they create and store the energy that is generated from the wind. Whatever the amount of energy you use, generally speaking, wind turbines will provide around twenty percent of that amount.

If you have incredibly windy days where you live and you have a wind generating system on your home then chances are good that your generator is consistently full or gaining electricity. If you do not get a lot of wind your way then it can mean that you don’t have a lot of electricity stored in the generator.

What you will need is fast and strong wind and this is what will cause your system to operate to its maximum capacity. If all you get is a light breeze most of the time then you will not be able to enjoy much of a benefit.

Depending on the type of system that you have installed you can expect a very beneficial supplement to your electricity needs. If the system is for your home you will be pleased with the savings on your monthly bill as well as the amount of energy the system will produce.

People who run solar powered systems and wind powered systems together often find that they get credited on their electricity bill because they have an abundance of electricity. When you have more energy than you have used through the electricity company then you receive a credit or cash back on their bill. In most cases, you will see a big dip in your bill which could be from 20% to 75%.

Kinetic watches make use of wind powered systems although the saving is negligible because the energy requirement is minimal. Although you will save money because you do not need to purchase batteries it will not amount to more than a few dollars at the most. Of course, you do have the added benefit of knowing that you are not damaging the environment at all because you are not having to dispose of batteries.

The amount of energy you use is a big factor when you have a wind powered system and want to save a lot of money. If you run big appliances on a constant basis then the savings may not be very big. If you are very energy conscious and you pay attention to the appliances that you have in your home that consume energy then you can save more money. The goal for most homeowners is to use wind power entirely rather than pay an electricity bill at all.

There are many reasons that people choose to install alternative energy solutions to their homes like a wind turbine system. Many of the different reasons include going green and saving money.

by John Ashbury

There are many reasons that people choose to install alternative energy solutions to their homes like a wind turbine system. Many of the different reasons include going green and saving money.

A wind turbine system installed at a home for alternative energy is an excellent choice to make. These systems can cost a person from $6,000 to $20,000. There are many determining factors that can change the price including the tower used for the system. Towers can vary on prices depending on the height and size of the tower.

The size of the generator you have to store energy can also vary in cost also. Some generators are very large and allow for a lot of electricity to be stored in them. Keep in mind that the cost of electricity saved with a wind turbine system can easily be absorbed after a few years of using the system.

Going green is a big factor for many people. When you install an alternative energy source like wind powered systems you emit less gases into the air and provide for less pollution that is damaging to the atmosphere. Air pollution from electricity generated through the burning of coal is a big factor responsible for global warming. A wind turbine doesn’t emit any pollution into the atmosphere or cause any problems.

The wind powers the wind turbine system. Once you have one installed the system is totally and completely powered by the wind. You will incur no additional costs to run the system in your home. It is automatic and you will not need to do anything to keep it going. Wind is free and so the system costs nothing to operate while it consumes the energy garnered from the wind and turns it into free energy for you and your home.

A wind turbine system is an excellent addition that you can add to your home. When something like this is installed at a home you can write it off on your taxes as a credit. In addition, if you ever decide to move or sell the house then the turbine system will help with increasing the value of the home.

Another reason for installing a wind turbine system in your home is because when you get older you won’t have the ability to pay increasing electricity costs. You may be stuck on a pension or retirement plan and as the cost of electricity rises you may be without heat in the winter. Alternative energy from the wind is an excellent way to save your check and make sure that you have enough money on a monthly basis to survive when you retire.

Alternative energy is very important to many people for the purposes of saving money and more. There are other reasons that you might consider installing wind turbine systems at your home for alternative forms of electricity. Many people care about the environment and they care about saving the earth. Saving the earth is very important and if everyone did their share by installing wind turbine systems then it could slow down the process of global warming.
