Whilst no-one might ever get to see the inside of your bedroom let alone your linen it is no reason why shouldn’t get the best on the market. This is your space and you should be comfortable and relaxed in it and quality bed linen can give you that feeling. So many kinds of linen are on the market today and choosing the best can be a bit of a problem

The one thing that I’m sure you already know about when it comes to bed linen is thread count. Did you know that this fact is over rated and there are other factors to consider that make thread count rather insignificant? If you had to take the fiber that is used into consideration then you would see that thread count is not a measure to use when buying sheets.

What do I mean? If you consider a sheet that is made from Egyptian cotton with a thread count of 600 and one made from nylon with a thread count of 1000. the Egyptian cotton sheet is both softer and stronger. You will come across sheets that can be used without being ironed. If you feel you are lazy on the iron then you could think about buying polycotton sheets.

Another thing to think about is the finish. This is a process that keeps the linen’s color from running when washing and keeps it relatively free from creases. You can be able to tell this from the way the material looks and feels after its completed. The size of the yarn or the weave will also affect the quality of the yarn. The more strands a material has then the stronger and finer the linen will be.

So before you buy your bed linen make sure that you review all these things against the price and make sure that you are getting your money’s worth.

Bed Linen, Duvets And Tog

November 14th, 2009 Florent No comments

The time that we spend sleeping should be comfortable and relaxing and one should consider investing in quality bed linen. There are some things that you should be aware of when buying bed linen, read about them in the following article.

As you compare the types of bed linen you might want to look up on the following: bed linen specifications, bed linen uk flannel, linen merchant

The measure of the thermal resistance of a duvet, that is how much heat will it be able to retain is measured in Togs. A duvet with a low tog rating of about 4.5 is suitable for those who normally feel hot when they are sleeping. If however you find that you are often cold then naturally you would choose a duvet with a high tog rating in the range of 12.5. It is a good idea to buy duvets to use in the different seasons.

It is possible to get a combo duvet that will be able to adapt to all the seasons. It is comprised of a 4.0 Tog duvet and a 9.5 Tog duvet. Do the maths and you have a three in one right?

Choosing the size is also another important. It is always good to pick the right size. If it is too small, it really will not look nice and might not provide enough warmth. An oversize duvet will get dirty easily and will also not look presentable.

Pillows

This by far one of the most important considerations when buying bedding material. Most sleep related disorders and pains can be linked to pillows. It only takes waking up with a stiffneck to know that the right pillow is important. Pillows that will bend or stretch the neck are really not desirable. You know what feels comfortable for you so just make sure you check the pillow out first.

Bed Linen

Just because it is called bed linen it does not mean it is all made of linen. That is why they are not all the same when it comes to durability, heat retention and strength. While it may look stylish and beautiful find out what its made of first and the implications of that to the weather you live in.
