What To Consider When Installing Wall Lighting

September 30th, 2009 No comments

Every now and then, there is a change in the trends in the housing industry. Developers are always looking to create that competitive edge and hopefully translate this difference into financial terms. One such trend that is commonly used in the real estate industry today is wall lighting.

In actual sense, wall lighting has existed for decades. Old English houses built in the 40s and 50s have this form of lighting already in place. Therefore, this is not really a new break through. Nevertheless, the trend is making its way back into modern developments and the clients seem to like it. Even in a market that is quickly getting crowded it is easy to be ripped off and not get value for your money. So one has to ask themselves what are the factors to consider when putting up wall lighting

The most basic factor to take into consideration is what the wall lighting is to be used for, such as if it is for reading, working or creating a mood. Regardless of what purpose the lighting is supposed to fulfill, you have to know before choosing the fixtures what you want it to do.

Something else you need to consider beforehand is the placement of your wall lighting fixture. You need to choose the exact position for it and what purpose it is basically being used for, and for this reason it needs to be strategically placed to get the maximum benefit for which it was intended.

One should also consider how they would like the wall lighting to work. Is the wall lighting going to be controlled by a switch, a dimmer or is it going to have its own power connection? If the wall lighting is going to be connected directly to a power outlet, it is going to be necessary to ensure the wall lighting fixtures are not placed too far from the power outlet.

You will be able to make your decision easier after you take the dcor and ambience into consideration for the room you are putting a wall fixture in. It is necessary also to be sure that it fits in a particular room especially where you want it located and in the end you can get the desired use and look you wanted.

Once you have thought about all the above mentioned factors you can then look around for the most suitable wall light fixture. You should look not only in stores, but also online. This way you have a good chance of finding the right fixture on sale or at a bargain price.

All the factors mentioned above are all important factors to consider while setting up your wall lighting. Since it is a long-term investment, it is best to be thorough to ensure you get the best possible results from your endeavor.

Make your Home Decor Fashionable

September 5th, 2009 No comments

Over the years I have become keenly aware at how a persons individual style for fashion does not always spill over into the way they decorate their homes. I have met several people in my lifetime that I like to refer to as Fashionistas who have a great style for fashion and are always up “to-date on the latest trends and they usually have to have an excellent job or career to go along with those fashionable tastes. With that said, those same people have invited me over for a dinner or just to visit and I walk into their homes and I am completely shocked at the lack of attention they give their dcor or the out-dated way they have decided to decorate.

I am the last person who will judge a person based by what they wear or what their home looks like, so I do not want you to misunderstand what I am saying when I make that previous statement. It just comes as a shock when you see someone who is so into fashion neglect the fashion of their own home. There are also others who think they have a flair for home dcor but really do not have the first clue as to some of the dos and do nots of home dcor.

This article will focus on some of the fashion rules that you should follow when choosing the style your home is going to present to the people who live there and to your guests. I would have to say that first rule of home fashion is to make sure that you purchase at least one piece of furniture that is going to stand the test of time, such as your dining room table, an oriental rug or area rug or something antique like and armoire. Area rugs specifically will add just the right touch to any room without overwhelming the room with a cluttered feel and an area rug is also a great accent for any room that has a high traffic area to be able to protect the flooring underneath.

Instead of keeping every room in a neutral color, you need to spice things up a bit and add some brilliant colors to certain rooms of the home such as a bedroom or breakfast nook. This will take away the constant need to redecorate or add too much clutter to a room to spice it up when you get bored with it. Taking the time to initially add bright color to a room will keep you satisfied for a very long time.

Using the right type of lighting in each room is going to make a major difference in the feel of your home. If you have a large living area, for example, using two floor lamps or two end table lamps to light the entire room is not going to give the proper light, nor will it do the room justice. Instead you should opt for track lighting in large rooms or even recessed lighting.

When you are ready to get caught up on fashion for your home and are ready to start to decorate or re-decorate, do some online research or pick up a home dcor magazine and you will be sure to find some great ideas and even some ideas that with a little bit of your own imagination, you can expand on.
