Water Filter Replacement Cartridge- Its Just As Important

August 5th, 2009 No comments

If you are into health than you are sure to appreciate the health benefits of having filtered water. But hooking up the filter is just the start. It is equally important that you remember to use a filter replacement cartridge at the intervals recommended by the filter manufacturer. A filter is a great way of removing contaminants from your drinking water supply, but as it does dirt tends to clog the filter. When the filter is clogged it becomes less effective at doing its job. That is why you need to use a filter replacement cartridge regularly to keep your drinking water supply fresh and clean.

Based on your water usage, filters can be a very convenient thing to install throughout your household. For example, the kitchen faucet is what is most commonly used for drinking water. Therefore, your kitchen faucet would be the most important place in your house to install a filtration system. Filtration systems come in two main varieties that each do the job of cleansing your water.

The first is a filter that mounts right to the tap. This is the simplest and least expensive option and it is also the easiest to install. And when it is time for a filter replacement cartridge the filter unit is right out in the open so it is easy to get to. These tap mounted units simply screw to the end of your kitchen faucet. Then you can either push a button on the filter or swivel the unit and it will change between giving you straight tap water or diverting it through the filter.

The only time you really need to use filtered water is when you want to actually drinking it, like a glass of water or boiling a pot of coffee. If you are cooking with water, doing the dishes, or simply washing your hands, unfiltered tap water is just fine to use. By limiting how much filtered water you actually use, you will decrease the amount of filter replacement cartridges you will have to purchase, thus saving you money.

A second choice for a kitchen sink water filtration system is an under the sink mounted system. This style of filter is larger and filters all the water that passes through it. It mounts out of the way under the sink so that you do not have to see it which makes it more aesthetically pleasing if that is important to you. This system and the filter replacement cartridge that goes with it are more expensive, but they also last longer so it is a good investment.

An under the sink filtration system will typically be plumbed separately to the back of the sink. This can typically be achieved with a simple steel tube style faucet. In doing this, you allow for a separate drinking faucet, and a dishwashing system.

A different spot that also works well for installing a filtration system is your refrigerator. You are defeating the purpose of using filtered water if you just put unfiltered ice cubes from the ice maker into your water. Using an inline filter will fix this sort of situation. You will need to remember that this will also have a filter replacement cartridge needing service also.

The Need For Water Filters/Purifiers Is A Must Nowadays.

July 29th, 2009 No comments

Over the years water filters/purifiers have been underrated and overlooked. Water contamination has been a plague in not only locally but also in foreign communities too. In North Africa, Algeria and other third-world countries, millions of people continue to suffer from the lack of access to uncontaminated drinking water. There is still an overwhelming number of people dying from water borne diseases everyday despite many initiatives to combat the problem.

We often think of water contamination as a foreign problem, but the truth is contaminated water lives in our own backyard. Many people do not believe that water filters/purifiers are a solution to this problem, but many people are not even aware of the potential harm they are exposing themselves to by consuming contaminated water every day. The chlorine found in water has been linked to many serious diseases, including heart problems, birth defects and even cancer.

People think that our drinking water doesn’t contain harmful micro-organisms and is healthy to drink, but it actual fact it has small concentrations of bacteria that can be potentially deadly at a high enough concentration.

Your water may not be safe to drink, whether it is well water or city water. In the case of city water sources majority of them are from municipal water sources. These sources contain potentially dangerous chemicals used to disinfect recycled waste water. It is no wonder that an increasing amount of people, armed with this knowledge, are turning to filters to make their tap water safer to drink.

How Exactly Do Water Filters/Purifiers Help?

The choices for water filter/purifiers abound. Each of them uses different mechanisms but they all aim to purify your tap water. Some of the options are countertop, undersink, or faucet filters. Whole house filters are the most commonly used. These systems free the water from bacteria, sediments, and chemicals that might jeopardize your health. Most of these water filters are not terribly expensive, except for the more complicated ones, which can be a bit costly. The best option is the whole house system. They are affordable, of good quality, and do not require much maintenance. You should look at a water filter/purifier system for your family as an investment in your family’s future health; after all you dont have anything to lose but your health to gain.
