Who should add a memory foam mattress topper to their existing mattress? Anyone who has trouble sleeping due to a mattress that is too firm or discomfort sleeping on a hard mattress due to back or leg pain will be able to sleep better with a topper. Your body heat affects a memory foam surface. While initially solid, as it comes in contact with body heat the material softens. Memory foam conforms to your body and actually creates a mold giving complete support. Memory foam has the ability to spread the pressure of your body weight over the whole area of the foam reducing nagging pressure points. The molecules in memory foam are made so that when they are compressed, the air inside them spreads out, hence decreasing the pressure. This is how the material conforms to your body. It allows the memory foam to conform to the body shape and give in to the weight bearing areas and extra support to the non-weight bearing area of your body.

A king size mattress, like most mattresses, is expensive. The king size mattress is often much more expensive than other sizes. Buying a memory foam mattress pad topper king size for your king size bed will help to extend the life of your mattress. Alternatively, if you do not want to have to replace your old and worn king sized mattress, a memory foam mattress pad topper king can breathe new life into your mattress, allowing you to sleep better.

When making the decision to purchase a memory foam mattress topper, factors you should consider are the softness, durability, and temperature sensitivity. Most memory foam has a density between 2 to 6 pounds. The density is the weight of a cubic foot of material. Higher density foam will have more material per cubic foot and less air, which has a huge effect on its durability, life span, and elasticity.

The average life of a low-density pad is 3 to 4 years. Low-density pads are less expensive due to more air and less material. The foam is initially softer and has a higher temperature sensitivity, which means they will react to body heat quicker and meld faster, but they will not last as long. A high-density pad has a life of 5 to 6 years and is the best choice when looking at different models of memory foam mattress toppers.

Figure out which foam mattress topper is for you through a variety of factors, such as budget how soft you like your sleeping surface. A memory foam mattress pad topper king won’t correct a mattress that feels like a sack of potatoes but it will make it feel quite a bit better.

Important Factors Of Memory Foam Mattresses

There are so many memory foam manufacturers out there these days that the selection is huge. With such a large selection though, there comes high quality and low quality mattresses. This article will talk about what you should look for when buying a memory foam mattress.

It may seem like a good deal to buy a discount memory foam mattress but you really get what you pay for. In the case of the cheaper mattresses, the quality of the materials are evident and the lower density foams are used in conjunction with other cheaper materials. The mattress will wear out fast.

So what should you be aware of? It really depends on what you’re going for. Generally you can get a whole memory foam mattress bed or you can get a memory foam mattress topper which is basically a layer of memory foam which goes on top of your existing bed. Suffice to say, the whole bed version is a lot more expensive and your concern should be comfort and durability.

The main concern with the topper version is comfort because it can easily be replaced. Replacing it is easy since it just sits on top of your existing mattress. It will last approximately four to five years if its about four pound density.

When you’re in the store, pay attention to the density of the memory foam mattresses you’re looking at. In general, the denser the memory foam, the more expensive its going to be because there are more materials that go into making a denser foam. However, the density of the mattress alone does not dictate the comfort of the mattress.

What density tells you is how heavy the memory foam is per cubic foot. So as an example, if you were looking at a 4 lb memory foam density, that means that the foam weighs 4 pounds per cubic foot which is measured by one foot in length, width and height.

Also, denser memory foams give you more of that sinking, soft memory foam feeling. The unique feeling that memory foam mattresses are known for. With less dense foams, they don’t have enough depth and density to provide that unique feeling.

So in conclusion when you’re looking at memory foam mattresses, make sure you choose one that is 4 pound density for toppers or 3.2 to 3.4 lbs for the whole mattress.
