Creating A Peaceful Garden Of Perennials
If you have ever gardened (even a little bit) than you will know that gardens are beautiful and peaceful places. They can calm your mind and soul. Having a lovely flower garden is one of the great joys in life. Here are some tips to make it beautiful.
Pay attention to the plants.
When you choose a perennial garden (meaning the plants come back every year) then you will need to make sure that the plants not only are suited to your climate or zone, but also bloom in succession, so that you always have something blooming in your garden.
This is not as hard as it sounds. Shopping at a local nursery will pretty much ensure that you get perennials that are hardy for your area of the country, and just looking at the labels will tell you the bloom times.
If you prefer a more planned out approach you can always purchase a garden map or layout that is made for your zone, and just buy the plants listed. This way your garden will be as easy to put together as possible.
Add paths, fences, and statues.
When you are planting a garden it is easy to get focused on just the plants, but adding other elements can really make your personality shine.
Use pathways, garden fences, and garden statues in order to get really great effect from your plants. You can easily do an Asian inspired theme with some polished river rock, a Buddha, and some carefully chosen plants. Or you can achieve a cottage look with white picket edging and a garden statue of children at play paired with a nice assortment of cottage perennials.
Don’t forget to water.
In most climates it is essential to water to water your garden at least occasionally. A good rule of thumb is to water every 3 days unless it rains. A soaker hose is an easy way to get water into your garden in a way that won’t waste it.
