While the most popular small refrigerators are pint sized versions of full sized refrigerators, the compact size limits the amount of functions the appliance can perform. However, there is actually a wide range of specialty small refrigerators to better serve the desired purpose of their prospective owner. Small built in refrigerators are designed to fit under counters while outdoor refrigerators are built a little tougher than the rest. Then there are the most common small refrigerator that is popular in small apartments and dorm rooms for their size and economical price.

A built in refrigerator is designed to be integrated into a kitchen counter or a bar. The doors are designed to jut out just a little more to make it accessible and the vents are positioned at the front of the unit because it is expected to be enclosed on all other surfaces. The vents are typically at the bottom underneath the door.

Outdoor refrigerators are designed to handle the harsh conditions of the outdoor environment and tend to be made of stainless steel to withstand acidic spills. These units are perfect for the backyard or other outdoor environment but could also be brought inside the house and used as a regular indoor refrigerator, albeit it could withstand more physical abuse than your typical small refrigerators.

Then we have the most common small refrigerators which are popular in college dorm rooms and small studio apartments without full kitchens. These come in a wide variety of selections and are usually very plain in design. They aren’t built to last as long as some other designs but that is because of their very purpose. It serves college students and people who have not settled into a home. Small, light, and cheap makes it easy to use, transport, and afford.

Larger units are useful in places like apartments with small kitchens. Some small refrigerators are large enough to have a separated freezer compartment which pretty much works like a standard sized refrigerator. Other refrigerators also offer ice making and keeping functions among other things.

There are many types of small refrigerators and we are not restricted to the most common. Although they are popular for a reason because many people who do not own a full sized refrigerator, normally because of their living situations, can easily manage to have a small refrigerator to get by with. But regardless of the living situation there is always a purpose of an extra small refrigerator if for no other reason than to hold drinks.

There are many models to choose from when shopping for a small refrigerator. Also known as a compact refrigerator or a mini refrigerator, these pint sized appliances are range from single can holders to anything smaller than’ cubic feet. At which point it is considered a standard sized refrigerator. The most common models that come to mind are between 2.8 to 4.4 cubic feet.

Despite the wildly small refrigerators, the most common of refrigerators on the small end of the scale usually offer around 2.8 cubic feet of storage space. These are sometimes referred to as compact cube refrigerators because they almost take the form of a perfectly shaped cube. These are probably the smallest while still being useful and often make good beverage refrigerators. These refrigerators are also good for small snacks and the freezer compartment is typically half-width which is hardly useable.

Anything larger than a compact cube refrigerator but less than approximately 10 cubic feet can be considered a mid-sized refrigerator. This is especially true of the larger appliances that almost look like a standard sized refrigerator. The freezer compartments in these refrigerators are usually full-width and are more useful at storing a couple frozen dinners and small amounts of groceries.

Then there are apartment sized refrigerators which more closely resembles their full-sized counterparts. The additional storage space is great for people who reside in shared apartments or small studio apartments and do not have the need or capacity to own a full sized refrigerator. These refrigerators, depending on the design, will range from 5 to’ cubic feet.

Larger refrigerators have the capacity to offer more options. While refrigerators smaller than’ cubic feet make it difficult to incorporate water and ice dispensers there are some that are large enough to warrant a separate freezer compartment. There are also some refrigerators on the larger end of the scale that offer ice making and storing capabilities.

Small refrigerators are great for anything from office spaces to college dorm rooms to a large single family home. When the need for refrigeration is small they serve the purpose and there is one size for every occasion.

Who wouldn’t love being complimented at the way your bedroom flaunts its elegance? Well, there is a lot that goes into designing your dream bedroom. Are you one of those interior freaks who would do anything for the appealing look of your house? Then you ought to be very careful while choosing and buying furniture. Selecting bedroom furniture could be a very dicey process if you don’t have an idea of the variety in the material and designs that they come in.

Your bedroom is a place where you should be able to come and unwind from the stresses of the day as well as re-charge your brain at the end of the day with comfortable, rejuvenating sleep. So shouldn’t you have the best furniture and accessories in your personal relaxation room? There is a lot to think about when kitting out a bedroom such as curtains, mattresses, window shutters, places to sit, they all need thinking about and before you make the decision to buy any bedroom furniture, you should make sure to consider the following;

- The size of your bedroom is very important and so you should carefully consider the size of the bigger pieces of furniture like the bed, and how much room will be left.

- The choice of the color of wood from either the dark or the light finish that could give your room a perfect brilliance as you enter.

- Storage space must also be considered when planning your bedroom, where should wardrobes go etc. how big should a wardrobe be? Beds with storage space inside them can be a real space saver as well.

The common indoor bugs we see all over the world are flies, spiders, fleas and beetles. No-one likes to have a bug indoors, so most people go to almost any lengths to get rid of these common indoor bugs. Less common indoor bugs may be woodlice, earwigs, scorpions and millipedes or centipedes, although they are no less unwelcome.

It does not matter where you are in the world, it is very difficult to keep these common indoor bugs outside, unless you go to the extremes of keeping all your windows and doors shut all of the time, which is obviously impossible. I now live in Thailand and I know for sure that this is not an option.

So, just what can you do about it? Well, let’s deal with all the flying bugs first, as of all the common indoor bugs, I think they are the most obnoxious indoor bug. They are very annoying, buzzing around your head and mosquitoes and other flies can create irritating sores and besides that, all flies carry disease. I cannot bear to see them walking on food, knowing that they have more than likely just come off some dung heap somewhere and now they are spitting on my food to taste it with their dirty feet!

My first line of defence is fine-mesh door and widow screens. They are not dear and can be fitted retrospectively to any window. My window meshes slide, so they can protect only one half of a window at a any one time, but I do not think that’s a problem. You can still create cross-winds, by opening two or more windows at opposing ends of a room. I love to see the flies on the mesh struggling to get in by day and the mosquitoes doing the same by night. At night, it is best to switch on as little light indoors as possible so as not to draw these common indoor bugs.

My second line of defence is natural predators – lizards, like Geckos (Jin Jok, in Thai). Some people don’t like them in the house much either and I can’t say that I’m all that keen on them indoors myself, but they are hard to keep outside and they do eat hundreds, if not thousands, of indoor bugs every day. I especially like to see them lying in wait on the outside of the mesh, ready to jump on any bug trying to struggle its way through the wires.

My third line of defence is an indoor bug zapper. You know, the electric, handheld bug zapper that looks like a child’s tennis racquet. They are fantastic at catching and destroying any flying indoor bug. The inset literally explodes and vaporizes on contact with the fully-charged wires of the indoor bug zapper. If you haven’t tried using one, you really should. They are most gratifying. These three defences keep our house quite much free of flies.

The creeping common indoor bugs are less of a problem really. Door screens on springs will keep 95% of them out and the Geckos will help too. Spiders can get in fairly easily, but then, I don’t mind them too much as long as they keep out of my way, as they eat other insects too. They are on our side to be honest. However, for those who can not bear to trap them and put them outside, the handheld indoor bug zapper works a treat on spiders too.

Sometimes, Fleas can be a problem, if you have cats or dogs, but then if you wash or dust the animal once a month, you should be able to keep these common indoor bugs under control fairly easily. However, there are two final measures that we use. Once a week, before we go out for the day, we spray every room with fly killer and every six-months we spray any rugs or carpets with an insect killer containing permethrin, which will survive washing and vacuuming for that long without losing its ability to kill common indoor bugs on contact. If you follow these methods, you should be able to keep your home or office quite free of the most common indoor bugs and the less common indoor bug as well.

Have you ever heard of an indoor bug zapper?

The hand held insect zapper is the best way of clearing the area around you of insects, especially the flying ones such as mosquitoes. The electric insect killer evaporates any insect from a mosquito to a gnat instantly on contact with a pleasingly loud, electrical ‘zap’!

However, this is not to say that the indoor insect zapper cannot be used outdoors, as long as it is not too wet. It should be treated like any other high voltage electrical equipment. Keep the indoor insect killer dry and please do not use it while you are standing in water!

Models do vary a lot, but there are basically only two types of hand held insect zapper: the battery operated bug zapper and the rechargeable electric bug zapper. Both are equally effective at zapping bugs and employ the same principle.

The hand held insect zapper looks like a ‘kids’ tennis racquet, but with three layers of ’strings’, which are in fact wires. The innermost grid of wires becomes electrified at the touch of a button, while the other two grids, one on either side, are harmless earths.

When an insect is caught between the wires of the electric insect killer, it creates a short, which vaporizes it instantaneously with a loud crack. The electric bug killer will kill other bugs too, but they just fry rather than just disappear.

I have had the rechargeable type for more than five years and am extremely satisfied with the hand held bug killer. In fact, the electric bug zapper has come a long way over the last few years. A fully charged indoor insect zapper is powerful enough to last for a few hundred swipes and will hold it’s charge, if unused, for weeks without any noticeable discharge.

The rechargeable battery unit will put up with intensive use for the best part of a year, although its ability to hold a charge for several weeks slowly diminishes after six or seven months.

The most recent indoor insect killer I’ve had has a main on/off switch, a light that comes on when it is activated (the brightness of this light also indicates the battery’s strength) and a light that comes on when it is plugged in on recharge.

The instructions suggest that the bug zapper should be (re)charged for about sixteen hours. However, I usually put it on charge over night once or twice every week or two, although the indoor bug killer shows a large increase in performance after only a few hours recharging.

The latest version I’ve seen also comes with a strong light called a ‘headlamp’. I have found this very useful when walking in the garden, but I’m not sure whether it’s meant to lure the mosquitoes in the dark so that you can zap them if you’re feeling bored or just vindictive. You know, a bit like an Anglerfish.

I’ve used the headlamp on my electric bug killer for that reason as well, but the light uses a lot of battery power. All in all, the indoor bug zapper is a big asset at any outdoor event. The indoor bug zapper is useful to ‘clean out’ your bedroom before retiring; it’s unbeatable for evening mosquitoes and it will clear a lunch table of wasps too.

Have you ever used an indoor bug zapper?

Over the last several years, a variety of alternative lawn care methods have been sought by those looking for another solution. These products are unique because they do not have chemicals in them. This makes them eco-friendly. Experts say that the use of chemical based fertilizers, pesticides and other products can not only poison your lawn, but affect the health and well being of your family, too. Most often, you will not notice these adverse health effects on your family. Yet, if you have pets and children, they are especially at risk for these effects. Being careful with the use of these products is a must.

Additional Risk

As well as harming your health, these chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides can also hurt the fragile Earth’s environment. In some studies, evidence has been seen of these chemicals altering the soil in various ways and then contributing to polluted ground water. The fact is, with all of these potentially dangerous risks evident, it is important to consider alternative lawn care methods.

Products To Consider

The good news is that alternative lawn care products are readily available today. Not all of them, though, are 100 percent organic and that means you need to be careful when selecting the right alternative lawn care products to use in your home’s environment. Anything that is not 100 percent organic can still contain harmful chemicals that do damage to your lawn and to your environment. To know if the product is effective, look for an organic seal on the packaging. Anything that is not 100 percent organic should not be used because it still does not protect the environment as it should.

Finding the right alternative lawn care product for your home is important, but do take into consideration the type of grass and your climate when making your selection. Various types of grass need different types of nutrients from these products and the products you select need to provide this. The climate effects how the grass grows, which means that you may find that you do not need a lot of product to maintain a healthy lawn. Choose grasses that are suited for your climate. These grasses will be able to handle the changes in your climate naturally and may not need too much additional product applied. When you do need to find a product that is going to provide health to your lawn, always choose alternative lawn care products.
