This multi-million dollar desalination plant is built on a water purification technology using a reverse osmosis membranes approach. This method is capable producing up to 200,000 cubic meters of potable water daily from the Mediterranean 24 hours a day everyday. There are further plans to build more desalination plants in the future in and around Africa. By the year 2010, GE water filter desalination plants around Algeria would be producing 2.3 billion cubic meters of potable water daily.

Providing the third world with pure water is a great and much needed initiative for these unfortunate people.
